Meatball Merriment!

If by any chance you are looking for a clever way to diversify your holiday party offerings – why not try serving up some meatballs – as a main, or an appetizer. It’s a little off the beaten path and a welcome surprise to any guest.

And whats more – you don’t need to stick to beef – try mixing it up by incorporating lean ground pork. Here I’ve partnered with DuBreton to fashion three holiday-worthy meatball recipes.

Three secrets to make your meatballs memorable:

1.       Add in some marmite. This yeast-based paste is pure umami flavor. It will give your meatballs the added jolt of savoury goodness.

2.       Presoak your breadcrumbs – and use buttermilk. Buttermilk provides an additional layer of flavor – slight acidity and tang.

3.       Fry them! Yup, that’s right. Fry your meatballs in a good amount of oil before baking them. This ensures a beautiful outside while not overcooking the inside.
