Have you heard of Speculoos? Until recently, I hadn’t, and maybe that’s a good thing, because three jars have met swift ends in my house! So what exactly is Speculoos? A.K.A. Cookie butter – it’s exactly that; a spreadable “butter” made from cookie dust. The flavour is like an Arrowroot cookie and gingersnap had a baby; slightly spiced but super rich and buttery tasting (think: waffle cone).Read More
To the classic sugar and cinnamon flavour profile of a snickerdoodle, I have added a touch of fenugreek seed, a spice most typically associated with Indian curries. Its scent is reminiscent of sweet lemons and soft caramel, and whenever I open the container containing the seeds I am greeted with that sweet, inviting aroma that begs to be incorporated into a dessert – so I had to oblige!Read More

I first made this recipe out of Jamie Oliver’s cookbook I received last Christmas, Jamie Oliver’s Comfort Food. And boy is it comforting. It’s sticky and sweet with pineapple, banana, lime zest and cream cheese icing. Plus I’m a sucker for anything that looks good decorated in edible flowers.Read More
It is officially summer, and here in southern Ontario that means the return of farmer’s markets and fresh, delicious produce that actually smells and tastes like it’s meant to.
